Boards and Commissions

Become a Member

Volunteer your time and talents to help your community by serving as a member of a City Advisory Board or Development Corporation. Details on each advisory board can be obtained from the City Secretary. If you are interested in serving on one of the boards, complete and return the Board Membership Application to the City Secretary’s Office. You can complete the application Online or by hand. City Boards

  • Planning and Zoning
    • 7 members, three year staggered terms
    • Meets the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. in City Council Chambers, 112 N. Colorado Street
    • Advises council about City Planning to include public improvements, civic improvements, zoning of property, widening and changing of streets, routing of public utilities, controlling and regulating traffic, approving plats.

    • Members: Ben Hangartner Chairman, Shelby Barley Vice-Chair, Eric Becker, Jace Ousley, Charles Haley, Shawn Bain, and Brian Poche
  • Board of Adjustments
    • 5 members, 2 alternates, two-year staggered terms
    • Meets the 1st Monday of every month at 6 p.m. in City Council Chambers, 112 N. Colorado Street
    • Serves as an appeal body for individuals seeking variances to the Zoning Ordinance, or to a decision made by an administrative official enforcing the ordinance

  • Library
    • 7 members, two year staggered terms
    • Meets the 3rd Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Library, 142 N Ohio Street
    • Develops and implements policies, plans and sets goals, and acts as advocates for the library

  • Parks and Recreation
    • Comprised of 5 members of the Celina Community Board, three year staggered terms
    • Meets the 1st Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 112 N. Colorado Street. 
    • Advises council on park-related matters

  • Special Events Advisory Committee
    • Provides feedback to Special Events staff on improvement opportunities, budget priorities for events, and other event related discussions
    • Long-term goal of maintaining and improving the strong relationship between Celina’s government and citizens through special events


Development Corporations

  • Economic Development
    • 5 members, two years staggered terms
    • Meets the first Tuesday of every month in the Celina Economic Development Corporation Building, 302 W. Walnut Street. 
    • Coordinates the use of sales and use tax funds primarily aimed at promoting economic development

  • Community Development
    • 7 members, two years staggered terms
    • Meets on an as-needed basis
    • Coordinates the use of sales and use tax funds primarily aimed at promoting parks, and 5 members serve as the Parks & Recreation Board.
