Traffic Section

The Celina Police Department is excited to meet the challenges of keeping the citizens we serve safe.

Established in 2023, the Celina Police Traffic Section helps fulfill that mission by keeping motorists safe through Engineering, Education, and Enforcement. The Traffic Division will use a data-driven approach to crime and traffic safety.

Engineering

Working closely with city engineers, the Traffic Section will monitor vehicle accidents, trends, and data to focus on the safest, most convenient, and most effective transportation routes for citizens. Collecting accurate data helps us identify problematic areas and locations that create hazardous road conditions, which allows engineers to allocate resources for road improvements and the appropriate designation of traffic control signals and devices.

Education

The Traffic Section is dedicated to educating drivers on traffic-related laws and road hazards to increase traffic safety, improve driving behaviors, and raise awareness.

Enforcement

Utilizing traffic-related data allows officers to focus enforcement on areas with high accident rates or traffic violations.

Celina Police Department Traffic Division Inaugural Car Meet

TxDOT created #EndTheStreakTX in an effort to raise awareness about the long streak of traffic deaths in Texas and how this is an issue that impacts every Texan. The reality is this: Texas has lost at least one person every day on Texas roads since Nov. 7, 2000. We need to end the streak of daily deaths on Texas roads! This goal is big, but it’s possible. But it’s going to take every single driver to do their part behind the wheel.

Sergeant Jeremiah Phillips launched his law enforcement journey with the Celina Police Department in 2014. Demonstrating a passion for serving and protecting the community, he quickly established himself as a valuable asset to the department. After honing his skills and gaining valuable experience, Sgt Phillips transitioned to the role of Detective within the Criminal Investigations Division in January 2018. Specializing in property and narcotics offenses, he played a pivotal role in solving complex cases and bringing offenders to justice.

In recognition of his exceptional dedication and exemplary performance, Sgt Phillips was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in January 2021. This promotion brought new responsibilities as he assumed a leadership role within the department. Known for his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence, Sgt Phillips has consistently sought opportunities to expand his knowledge and skill set.

In December 2022, Sgt Phillips's exceptional leadership abilities were acknowledged, and he was selected to develop and lead the new Traffic Division. Drawing on his expertise and experience, he successfully established strategies to enhance traffic enforcement, promote road safety, and address the unique needs of the community. His dedication and innovative approaches have had a significant impact on improving traffic management in Celina.

Throughout his career, Sgt Jeremiah Phillips has remained steadfast in his commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the community he serves. His unwavering dedication, extensive training, and invaluable experience make him a respected figure within the Celina Police Department.
