Citizens Police Academy
CLASS SIGN-UPS FOR SPRING 2023 ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED,
The Citizens Police Academy (CPA) is a Community Relationship program that will help bridge the gap and strengthen the relationship between the Celina Police Department and the citizens they serve. During this ten (9) week, 11 class days course, participants learn about topics ranging from criminal law and patrol tactics to Criminal Investigations. The group may also take a field trip to A local Detention Center in either Denton or Collin County. This Academy will help prepare the participants in becoming Ambassadors of the Celina Police Department within their communities.
This is a free Course. The Projected start date is Thursday, March 23rd, 2023, from 6:30 - 9:30 pm, and every preceding Thursday after that, ending with a projected graduation date of May 25th, 2023. There will be two Saturday sessions on April 29th and May 20th, 2023. The training will be held at various locations throughout the City of Celina. Dates and locations are subject to change in the event of the Department's needs.
Applicants must be a Citizen of Celina, City or County, or employed in the city of Celina. Furthermore, must be a minimum age of 18. The class size will be limited due to the hands-on training that students will go through. We plan on doing 2 classes a year, this will give people multiple chances to join. Please know that this is still a new program and those applicants who make it in will be paving the way for future Academies.
After graduating from the Citizen Police Academy, Alumni become eligible to train as Volunteers in Policing (VIPs). This program will allow volunteers to assist the Celina Police Department in multiple ways both in the office or out on patrol.
More information on the Volunteer groups and application process will be released later in the year. If you have any questions or comments, please email Officer Chase Guidera at email@example.com.
